Pray for the Persecuted

ALGERIA: status: restricted nation
"For more than 30 years a one-party socialist regime backed by a strong army has ruled Algeria. 'Free' elections in 1999 didn't change the country's leadership, but many have opened the door for peace between Islamic rebels and the government. In recent years, Algerian Christians have suffered the reign of violence from the Islamic Salvation Front. Members of this Muslim rebel group have been known to march threw towns and slit the throats of anyone who has not lived up their call to the Islamic fundamentalism. Two-thirds of Algerians are so young that they have known nothing but the confusion offered by a socialist system. Algeria now has very few Christians (0.4 percent) and the church is suffering discouragement... some believers are withdrawing from the fellowship due to intimidation from family, friends, and Muslim extremists. Prayer Request: Pray that Algerian believers will find opportunities to share their faith and will lead many to Christ." ~ from Jesus Freaks: Martyrs: Stories of those who stood for Jesus by dc Talk Thank you for your prayers for the persecuted church! The Daytona 500

This is for all those out there who enjoy the sport as much as my family and I do... We have been watching NASCAR races now for five years, and I am still as excited by the "boogity boogity boogity, let's go racing boys" as I ever have been. This afternoon, we ordered our heart shaped pizzas and dusted off our hats, and sat down to watch. Even my little brother likes to watch the race. Kasey Kahne is still my driver and we all have our hats and jerseys for race day. It is a lot of fun, however I am about done with the road construction that continues to happen at this moment, which is why I am up here blogging. So for all you race fans, Enjoy the Daytona and may the best driver win! (hopefully Kasey) Happy Racing and Valentine's Day! Kaye Ann Silver

Valentine's Musings...

my tree in the yard, coated in morning frost
Warm flowers on the table, reminding me that spring is coming I start to think about the coming years, pseo, laptops, trout lake, early college expos and lost plan tests, I lose focus and start to worry and doubt. But the Lord is so good and constantly brings me back and says, "Hey, I'm right here with you. I've got it all figured out. No need to worry." Just like the flowers on the table remind me that spring is coming, the Lord and His word reminds me that it'll all work out for good and reminds me of how blessed I am. How good my life is and how good the Lord is through it all, and I am amazed yet again. God has given me two huge blessings: 1) three siblings that keep me excited about the little things in life 2) strong christian parents who direct me to the Lord Have a blessed Valentine's day! Kaye Clap your hands, all you nations. Shout to God with cries of joy! How awesome is the Lord most high; Great King over all the earth! Psalm 42:1-2

Today

Well... I don't really know what to write about except what happened today. Driver's Ed and Algebra 2. I am really actually enjoying it. My teacher is a Christian man who prays before each class and is very technologically impaired, which is quite funny since all of our notes and movies are on an older laptop computer. Today he couldn't get it to work and we as a class wondered if the computer had been hacked into. :) Algebra! Oh how much easier it is than geometry! Equations like -2(-3+7to the zero power) - l(-2 -3)l and so on... how cool!!!! Tonight we just have youth group and KidsJam at church, so that should be fun... Ah, Life. God is good! Kaye

Pray for Haiti

Hey there... I don't know if you've heard or not, on Tuesday (the 12th), Haiti was struck by a record-blowing 7.0 earthquake. Haiti is already the poorest country in this hemisphere, and they are many times struck with hurricanes. My dad led a trip down to Haiti through our church a two years ago to help out in an orphanage, God's Littlest Angels. They got to go down and work with the kids, meet the founders, and really connect with a lot of people. When we got the news of the earthquake, we were shocked. All we could think of was all the kids in the orphanage down there, and if they had sustained major damage to the property, or worse. That night, on BBC, Dixie Bickel, one of the founders, called in and was on TV reporting on the situation in Haiti. She was also interviewed the next day on Good Morning America. (I'm sure you could find either of these interviews online if you would like to see them). The orphanage is alright and they don't have any major damage to the building. However, the country of Haiti is now in even worse condition than it was before. The casualty rates are astonishing. Right now, the country of Haiti needs prayer. Please pray that those affected by the earthquake would know that God is in control and for peace of mind and heart. Pray for the orphanage, that they would be able to get the food and water that they need to keep running. Pray that those who are called to give in this crisis would be led to, and pray that Haiti, in the midst of all this chaos, find comfort in Jesus Christ. Thank you so much for your prayers. Kaye A. New Years Happiness

Okay- I have a few goals for this new year of 2010 that starts tomorrow. I was wondering if you had any as well. I know that I find it kind of hard to have resolutions, so I prefer to call them goals. Here are a few of mine: ~ learn how to make homemade jelly ~have a few plants of my own in the garden come summer ~read 10 new books (that new part is hard for me since I usually find myself rereading rather than exploring new books) ~finish that red and blue t-shirt quilt (darn it I can never find time or the umph to do it) So yeah. Those are a few of my goals. Oh- a good friend of mine has a couple of goats and chickens and such, and well, I know nothing of the sort of raising any kind of farm animals. So I think that I am at least going to try and learn how to milk a goat or cow, and feed chickens and whatnot. Maybe you could help me, HL? See Ya and Happy New Year!!! ...2010... man, I'm getting old... Kaye
