life has sped up quickly and poof! school has started again.
and spending 3 hours a day on the computer with school is…
enough.
So when my time tapping keys lessens,
more posts will be coming!
Thanks for your grace!

This one made me smile… “All tanks”… the simplicity and earnestness of a little boy’s prayer…
And I love this one! Maybe to print out and put on your fridge??
A song to make you smile, and remember to do everything for His glory…
Courageous- by the same people who did Fireproof and Facing the Giants comes this great story about family and heroes…. one I can’t wait to see this fall!
and a quick trip to the pharmacy, perhaps? check it out over at my other blog, Birdhouses and Bandaids…
blessings to you this weekend!

My sisters, cousins, and I spent the last week up north at our grandparents’ cabin on the lake. It is such a blessing to have grandparents that are willing to take all 5 of us, ages ranging from 5 to 17! This was the 11th annual running of what we call “Mamo Camp”.
And what a week we had!
Over the next couple of days or so I hope to let you in on what we did that week through some pictures, stories, and funny happenings over here. Enjoy!

Mamo and Papa have a beautiful old Victrola record player in their living room with dozens of records to dance your socks off to.
So of course, we selected a few of our favorites to play and jam to in the living room.
(And so for your listening entertainment, I have also added, on each song’s name, a link to a YouTube video of the song. :) Enjoy!)
Our unanimous favorite was “The Flight of the Bumble Bee”.
A close second was “The Woodchopper’s Ball”.
Coming in third place was the classic “Big Wig in the Wigwam”.
And our honorable mentions were “How Ya Gonna Keep ‘Em Down on the Farm”…
and “Let’s Dance- Fox Trot”. Congratulations to our winners and better luck next year to all the rest!
Gotta love them golden oldies…

One of my grandpa’s friends from his antique car club was at the DQ at the same time we were… and is this not the coolest fire truck EVER???
He had it painted and redone, and it looks absolutely beautiful… and like it would be a lot of fun to ride in!
And isn’t the name on the side just simply perfect?
I’m a history geek, so the idea that he had had the place and date of when this fire-engine was used on the side made me so thrilled…
and I had to see if I could find a similar picture online of back-in-the-day- and I did!
totally AWESOME.
TOTALLY.

One more tradition that continues each year is to ‘battle it out’ at the racetrack- go kart style!
Jay and Miss M are almost tall enough to drive the bigger cars, but until then they are granted exclusive access to the cars more that are more their size.
It’s great because they get the track to themselves-
The taller of the cousins (me and L) were at the racetrack with the bigger, slightly faster cars. Papa and T-man were able to join us as well as they cruised around in a two-passenger car.
It is so much fun! You feel as though the car were going 70 miles an hour as you careen around the track.
one thing that we love about the track is that even the smallest can drive a racecar… ;)
(many thank you’s to Mamo and Grandpa for the photos in this post!)
Each of us were given enough tickets for two races. On the second round for me and L, Mamo was able to join us on the track. Man, does she cruise! No brake! The camera could barely capture her as she whizzed around the corner…
and spun out! Apparently someone tried to pass her on the inside right before a hair-pin turn, and she didn’t want to let him through, so she hit the gas and spun. Too funny…
After the races we were off to DQ…
but wait!
That’s a story for another post…
:)

to gaze out the window today…
and be amazed at the simple things.
plays coming together,
friendships forming,
the sound of pencil on paper,
Scooter tag.
The object is simple really.
1. Choose someone to be “it”.
2. Have that person hide the flag.
3. Find the flag. On scooters. While being chased by whoever is “it”.
4. If tagged, your frozen.
Scooter tag.
Hours. Long hours spent doing this.
All week.
:) Too much fun.
Where was I during the game, you ask?
Photographer-ing.

A cool morning provided us with the perfectly wonderful opportunity to spend some time out of the house and onto the lake.
For as long as I can remember, my family has enjoyed canoeing together around the bay where my grandparents live, and up and down the surrounding lake shore. We are very blessed to have grandparents with 2 canoes- enough for our whole crew to be out on the water at once.
The camera got dragged along on this outing as well. Actually, it would be dragged around all week- with over 500 pictures taken with it (I promise not to share all of them here… :) ).
Mamo took our group shots for us throughout the week, and they all turned out so well! She is an up-and-coming photographer, that grandma of mine!
Here is our “We just LOVE canoeing” picture…
And our “We will conquer the great waters of the north because we know what we’re doing!” picture…
or well… maybe not….
We divided up into the two canoes… me, L, and Jay in the green one and Mamo, Miss M, and T-man in the other red one. Both canoes had been “woogied” to rid them of all spiders and hitch-hiking bugs to prevent falling into the lake should a small person see them :).
After docking at the shoreline after our canoe ride, me and L took out the kayaks and hit the lake. It was so much fun to be out with just L on our ride. We took turns passing around the camera (very carefully) between the two kayaks and got some crazy photos of each other… just being sisters…
here’s two of our photos that look like they’re from “Lake Country Magazine” :)…
And then the two that will show up at our graduation open houses and weddings one day…
L and me got laughing so hard I almost tipped my kayak over. WAY too much fun was had…
We could have stayed out there all morning, the sun at our backs and the cool water under our fingers, but then our stomachs grumbled…
and it was a dash to lunch.

After a day on the trail, the evening was perfect for reading the Bible on the boathouse deck and enjoying the absolutely perfect weather- what a total blessing from the Lord that was!
Mamo shooed me out of the kitchen and so I moseyed my way on down to the lake… and I am so glad I did!
I had the most amazing quiet, Bible study time… God is so good! Here are a few pictures and some verses that I read while praying on the porch…
“The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice…” Ps. 97:1
“The Mighty One, God, The LORD, speaks and summons the earth from the rising sun to the place where it sets.” Ps. 50:1
“My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When can I go meet with God?” Psalm 47:2
“How awesome is the Lord Most High, the great King over all the earth!” Psalm 42:2
It was also the perfect time to munch a little on some of my favorite fruit…
and to make THE most FABULOUS strawberry pie ever… all the crust is is flour, water, powdered sugar… too tasty!
a perfect weather-pie-study time end to the day…
